The Liquid Serum Chemistry program has officially been added to the new result entry portal.
New result entry tab
To begin entering results, select the Result Entry tab. As you will see, this will display the following screen.
Shown above, there is a separate tab for open and closed surveys. Therefore, once a survey has closed, it will move to the “CLOSED” tab.
Opening and closing dates
Displayed alongside the survey instructions are the opening and closing dates. This allows for an easier way to organise your work. Also, times displayed are in your local time.
Result entry status
The “Status” bar indicates which stage your result submission is currently at. Statuses used are; Enter Results, Draft or Submitted. Programs where results have not submitted (including results saved in draft) 5 days before the closing date, will appear in red. If no results have been submitted, or results are still in draft, an email reminder will be sent.
Viewing the survey round
Begin entering results by selecting the “Survey instructions” hyperlink, or the “Status” related to the survey. Selecting “Survey instructions” brings you to the relevant information regarding this survey, shown in the image below. Selecting the “Status” will take you directly to the “RESULT ENTRY” tab.
The survey instructions contain all necessary program information, such as safe handling and sample information. We advise making yourself familiar with this page before entering results.
Uploading Patient Report
For this year’s survey, the RCPAQAP is asking its participants in the Liquid Serum Chemistry program to upload a copy of the associated patient report. The report should be a PDF (or image) of the results from the program, produced in the same manner as a report to a requesting doctor. This will provide valuable information on the uptake of reporting standards and reference ranges.
Uploading this report takes no time at all and involves clicking the hyperlink at the beginning of the survey. Presented to you is an upload screen where you can attach multiple files.
Now that you have familiarised yourself with the survey instructions, it is time to enter results. Select the “RESULT ENTRY” tab within the survey to move to the result entry form.
Had you participated in this program previously, you will notice the date selector is now at the top of the result entry form. This is presented as an interactive calendar.
Having done that, we recommend organising your measurands in a way that suits you with the configure button. Selecting the gear icon will present you the measurands table, which can be manipulated. Un-ticking the checkbox on the left hand side of each measurand will remove it from your result entry form. By clicking and dragging measurands, the order of display can be changed.
Once you are happy with the presentation of your measurands, click save and begin entering your results. The fields for each samples results are displayed next to each other, alongside the name of the measurand, the units used and the method category selector. There is also help text underneath the result fields that will notify you of acceptable entry types.
As this is a new system, your previously entered method codes will have to be re-entered. However, you will only have to do this once. After entering methods, they will pass on to the subsequent survey rounds. We have made the entering much more intuitive, with only related methods displaying after each selection. For example, if you select an Abbott Architect analyser, you will only see options related to that type of analyser. To make things more logical, we have moved the Analyser selection to the top of the form.
Method category terminology is largely unchanged from previous years. That means, if you were enrolled in this program for 2018, we suggest following the methods listed on your 2018 report as a quick way to reference (assuming your previous categories were correct and there are no other changes).
Once you are happy with the information you have entered, it is time to submit. Selecting the “Progress to submit” button will bring up a review form. If all the information is correct, click the “complete submission” button. Otherwise, press cancel and address what needs to be. Changes to the result entry form can be made any time until the closing date.
The following screen will be digitally tagged with the submitting user’s details on completion of submission. This person will receive an email confirmation as well.
You have successfully entered results for the Liquid Serum Chemistry program in the new myQAP portal! As always, please leave any feedback by clicking the speech bubble button.
