New result entry tab
To begin entering results, select the Result Entry tab. This will display the following screen.
Shown above, there is a separate tab for open and closed surveys. Therefore, once a survey has closed, it will move to the “CLOSED” tab.
Opening and closing dates
Displayed alongside the survey instructions are the opening and closing dates. This allows for an easier way to organise your work. Also, times displayed are in your local time.
Result entry status
The “Status” bar indicates which stage your result submission is currently at. Statuses used are; Enter Results, Draft or Submitted. Programs where results have not submitted (including results saved in draft) 5 days before the closing date, will appear in red. If no results have been submitted, or results are still in draft, an email reminder will be sent.
Viewing the survey round
Begin entering results by selecting the “Survey instructions” hyperlink, or the “Status” related to the survey. Selecting “Survey instructions” brings you to the relevant information regarding this survey, shown below. Selecting the “Status” will take you directly to the “RESULT ENTRY” tab.
The survey instructions contain all necessary program information, such as safe handling and sample information. We advise making yourself familiar with this page before entering results.
Now that you have familiarised yourself with the survey instructions, it is time to enter results. Select the “RESULT ENTRY” tab within the survey to move to the result entry form.
Begin by selecting the “Pathogens Tested” drop-down menu and choosing the pathogens you are testing for.
Next, select all the methods used for testing. That includes entering extraction and amplification/detection kits that would be applicable to a multiplex assay. Where relevant, select the correct amplification method for a singleplex assay.
After selecting your pathogens and entering the methods used for testing, you can begin entering your findings. If you hadn’t already noticed, after selecting the pathogens, value fields appear for each selection. The top field is for the interpretation and is displayed as radio buttons. Please make sure to select a result as we do not accept blank results. Situated below these are fields for the Ct/Cp value for each detected pathogen.
Once you have completed entering you findings, there are a few optional fields to enter. These include lot numbers, extraction and elution volumes, sample volume etc. These fields will not be assessed but hold extremely useful information for troubleshooting.
It is up to you to enter any controls you may use. Selecting yes for any of these controls brings up fields for you to enter the “Lot number” and “Method” of these controls.
Please enter any additional information (details about the tests performed, comments about the sample etc.) related to the survey in the comments field.
Once you are happy with the information you have entered, it is time to submit. Selecting the “Progress to submit” button will bring up a review form.
If all the information is correct, click the “complete submission” button. Otherwise, press cancel and address what needs to be. Changes to the result entry form can be made any time until the closing date.
The following screen will be digitally tagged with the submitting user’s details on completion of submission. This person will receive an email confirmation as well.
And that’s it! You have successfully entered results for the Molecular Gastrointestinal Pathogens Program. As always, please leave feedback regarding your experience of the new portal by clicking the speech bubble button.
Please make sure you enter a result in the interpretation field as blank results will not be accepted.
